I Have a Picky Eater, Now What?

I Have a Picky Eater, Now What?

Are you struggling to feed your little one who seems to have the pickiest palate known to parenthood? Don't fret! Whether your baby has a meltdown at the sight of anything green or turns up their nose at anything that's not a nugget, you're not alone. As parents, we understand the challenges of catering to our mini food critics, but fear not - we've got some tasty tricks up our sleeves to turn mealtime woes into mealtime wins!

Variety:
First things first, let's talk about variety. Just    like us adults, babies can get bored with the   same old eats day in and day out. So mix it   up! Instead of sticking to the same tried-  and-tested meals, introduce new flavors and  textures to keep things interesting. Globowl  has four different varieties that can be rotated through with more recipes on the way soon... variety is the spice of life, after all!

Patience:

Now, let's address the elephant in the room: is it a phase? Will they ever grow out of it? We get it - it can be frustrating when your baby turns their nose up at anything that's not their favorite go-to food. Patience is key. Instead of forcing them to eat foods they don't like, try offering a range of options and letting them choose what they want to eat. Who knows, they might surprise you by branching out and trying something new!  Use this as a teaching moment by referring to the color of the Globowl jar - ask your little one ‘do you want the blue jar or the green?’ - see how fast they choose blue because their favorite cartoon puppy is named bluey.  We never know what goes into their decision making, and just when we think we have a grasp…their new favorite puppy is purple.

Fun-time at mealtime:

Another tip? Get creative with your presentation. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of imagination to turn a mealtime flop into a culinary masterpiece. Try cutting their food into fun shapes or arranging it on their plate in a playful way. If they are old enough, try sticking toothpicks into bite sized pieces like a fancy hors d'oeuvres tray. Test out a new plate and cup combination and let them choose the spoon. You'd be amazed at how much more willing they are to eat when you turn feeding time into FUN!

Introduce big flavors and safe textures:

Of course we’re going to sprinkle in some Globowl magic! If you're looking to introduce big flavors and safe textures to mitigate those food aversions, we can help. With a tantalizing array of globally-inspired meals bursting with flavor and texture, spice, but not spiciness, Globowl is the solution for picky eaters. The key is to introduce these types of food during the flavor window.  When you Open the Flavor Window™ during age 6 to 18 months by feeding a wide variety of flavors and textures during this critical period, you can help expand your baby's palate and set them up for a lifetime of healthy eating habits. Don't be afraid to get adventurous and explore new tastes with your little one. Who knows, you might just discover a new favorite dish together!

Globowl pro-tip - you can spoon out half the jar to their plate and reserve the other half of the jar by storing it in the refrigerator after opening for the next day.  This will stretch your jar if it is something new they are trying - they can eat the other half of the jar tomorrow or the day after.

Feeding picky eaters doesn't have to be a battle. With a little bit of patience, creativity, and a whole lot of love, you can transform mealtime difficulties into victories.
